July 2026 ESY Eligibility - Due No Later Than Fri, May 1

Newmark K-8 and Newmark High School provide Extended School Year Programs (ESY) for our students who are eligible through your local school district. The Newmark ESY Program is taught by our highly skilled educators and should not be thought of as a summer camp.  This program allows us to work on student’s soft skills while maintaining academic readiness. 

The upcoming program is scheduled to run from Wednesday, July 1, 2026, through Friday, July 24, 2026.

To qualify for ESY, agreement among the IEP Team, which includes you, your school district's Child Study Team and Newmark, is essential. The determination is typically made during the annual IEP meeting.

As in previous years, we require confirmation from parents and school districts regarding their students' attendance at ESY no later than Friday, May 1, 2026. After this date, we cannot guarantee placement in the program. It is crucial to note that attending Newmark does not automatically grant eligibility for ESY per some districts. If your student participated last year, they should meet the criteria. To simplify:

• If your IEP meeting has already taken place, and it was decided that your student will attend ESY, no further action is required.
• If your IEP meeting is before May 1, 2026, eligibility and ESY placement can be confirmed during the meeting.
• If your IEP meeting is scheduled after May 1, 2026, kindly contact your case manager to discuss your student's eligibility and confirm with us by the deadline.

Please be aware that there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to the May 1, 2026, deadline, as we need sufficient time to plan classes and allocate staff. Also, students are expected to attend all four weeks of the ESY program. While we do allow some time for family vacation, attendance at other camps during this time is not in line with the program's intent and may disqualify your student from ESY services. For high school students, attendance at ESY is strongly recommended unless they have secured employment or have an alternative plan supporting their transition out of high school. All positions must be secured prior to the IEP meeting.
