1. When will Remote Learning instruction begin for my Newmark student?
Remote Learning at Newmark will begin effective Monday, March 16, 2020.
2. When does the first class begin?
Newmark High School students begin at 8:30 AM and Newmark K-8 students begin at 9:00 AM.
3. How will the School Day be structured?
The day will be structured to follow the student’s in class academic schedule using Microsoft Teams. The teacher will be LIVE during those times. Please have your child refer to their school day schedule.
4. How will the Teacher be providing instructions?
Instruction will be provided through the student’s Microsoft Teams Portal where students will log on. Students have been working in Microsoft Teams since the beginning of the school year and are familiar with the process.
5. How do we access Microsoft Teams?
Please go to www.office.com. Your child was given their log on information. Once logged on you can download the Teams app to the device but you do have access to all Microsoft Cloud version apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). When using a MacBook please use the Chrome Browser.
6. Is Attendance taken?
Yes, attendance is taken and tracked for each class period. NHS students must also check in for their 1:15 PM AMP period with their homeroom teacher. Any questions they have on the next day’s schedule can be answered at that time.
7. Which classes are NOT live on Microsoft teams?
K-8 Art & PE classes are not live but students should keep to their schedule and work on the materials those teachers have provided during that time. The Art and PE teachers will reach out to families weekly to discuss progress or revise lessons as needed.
8. How will 3rd Marking Period grades be calculated?
Teachers will be posting assignments for completion and those assignments will receive a grade that will be calculated into their 3rd marking period grades. The 3rd marking period will end on Thursday, April 9, 2020. Report cards will be available on your MyNewmark Parent Portal after 3:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2020.
9. How will Speech and/or Occupational Therapy Services take place?
If your child receives these services, specific assignments have already been sent home with them and they are able to check in daily with their therapist between 1:50 PM- 2:20 PM. Therapists will also be checking in with students weekly.
10. How will my child’s Counseling session be handled?
Your child has received assignments from their counselor(s) and also an assigned weekly call in time. As always, parents can reach out to their child’s individual counselor as needed via email.
11. Will Remote Learning (e-Learning) days count towards the 180-day requirement?
The submission of our eLearning [Remote Learning] Plan to the county office last week ensured that all remote learning days will count towards the statutory 180-day requirement.
