K-8 After School Clubs 2022-23 Session Dates:
- Session I: Begins week of September 19, 2022 through November 9, 2022
- Session II: Begins week of November 28, 2022 through January 26, 2023
- Session III: Begins week of February 13, 2023 through March 30, 2023
- Session IV: Begins week of April 24, 2023 through June 1, 2023
Newmark K-8 School is excited to offer 2022-23 After School Clubs and Programs specifically designed to meet the age interests and needs of our students. Activities are offered for 4 sessions, with each session running 6 to 9 weeks in length, noting days off due to holiday breaks. During each session, your child will be exposed to a variety of activities tailored to both educational and social experiences.
- Onsite: Clubs/Programs will begin directly after school and end at 3:30 PM or 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for student pick-up promptly at dismissal.
- Virtual: Clubs/Programs will start at 3:30 PM via Microsoft Teams invite and will end at 4:30 PM.
Pay by check or credit card ($3.00) fee.

FENCING | $150 per session | MONDAYS | ONSITE
Session IV: 4/24/23, 5/1/23, 5/8/23, 5/15/23, 5/22/23 (no club 5/29/23 – Memorial Day)
Open to students in Mrs. Necci, Mrs. Demko, Mrs. Arnao, Mr. Kerby, Mrs. Mastrogiovanni and Mr. Cebula's classes. Minimum: 6 participants
Description: The sport of fencing is a unique and classic sport that helps develop discipline, balance, coordination and sportsmanship. Fencing also works on increasing reflex speed and the ability to make fast analysis of tactical situations which transfers to better problem-solving skills. Fencing is mentally challenging as it increases focus and concentration, allowing not a moment break ... earning its nickname “Physical Chess.” The club will be taught by professional fencers from the Advanced Fencing and Fitness Academy (AFFA). Fencing is offered on Monday afternoons immediately following dismissal and will end at 3:30 PM. Parents are responsible for picking their child up promptly at 3:30 PM. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

ADVANCED ART PROGRAM | $75 per session | TUESDAYS | ONSITE

Open to students in Mrs. Arnao, Mr. Kerby, Mrs. Mastrogiovanni and Mr. Cebula's classes. Minimum: 6 participants
Description: Advanced Art offers your child a small group/one-on-one art classroom environment for them to grow and learn more about art and their drawing skills. The program focus will be on the technical skills of drawing and sketching. Students will practice drawing from life and review the elements of art along with the principles of design. The Advanced Art Program runs Tuesday afternoons immediately following after dismissal and will end at 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking their child up promptly at 4:00 PM.

GAMER'S GUILD CLUB | $75 per session | WEDNESDAYS | ONSITE

Open to students in Mrs. Demko, Mrs. Arnao, Mr. Kerby, Mrs. Mastrogiovanni and Mr. Cebula's classes. Minimum – 6 participants
Description: Students will be introduced to a variety of new games where they will develop an understanding of rules within an engaging and enjoyable environment. Students will work collaboratively through fantastical worlds like Dungeons and Dragons, as well as learn the value of partaking in friendly competition during card games. Gamers’ Guild is offered on Wednesday afternoons immediately following after dismissal and will end at 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking their child up promptly at 4:00 PM.

Open to all K-8 students. Minimum – 10 participants
Description: The Intramurals Club is designed to allow all students to participate in a variety of activities with their friends, while learning game fundamentals in a fun and lightly competitive environment. Intramurals is offered on Wednesday afternoons immediately following dismissal and will end at 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking their child up promptly at 4:00 PM. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

NEW! ROBOTICS CLUB | $75 per session | THURSDAYS | ONSITE

Open to students in Mrs. Demko, Mrs. Arnao, Mr. Kerby, Mrs. Mastrogiovanni and Mr. Cebula's classes. Maximum: 10 participants
Description: The Robotics Club will provide the opportunity for interested students to build and program robots using LEGO Mindstorm EV3 technology. This club will introduce the students to the Mindstorm EV3 kits and programming software. Students will participate in a series of activities that will build their knowledge of how to build and program robots. Once students develop foundational skills, they will use their creativity to design and build their own innovations. The club will focus on critical thinking skills, interpersonal communication and teamwork. Robotics is offered on Thursday afternoons immediately following dismissal and will end at 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking their child up promptly at 4:00 PM.

MINECRAFT EDUCATIONAL CLUB | $75 per session | THURSDAYS | VIRTUAL

Open to students in Ms. Fagan/Ms. Halma, Ms. McCarty, Mrs. Necci and Mrs. Demko's classes. Minimum – 6 participants; Maximum – 15 participants
Description: Microsoft Minecraft is an educational game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment. It enhances creativity, problem-solving, self-direction, collaboration and other life skills. Virtually, Microsoft Minecraft complements reading, writing, math, and even history learnings. Importantly, Minecraft also instills business principles, STEM knowledge and a global perspective. Before registering, please understand participating students must own the Minecraft and have it downloaded. Minecraft is offered virtually on Thursday afternoons and will run from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM.

NEWMARK K-8 BIRTHDAY PARTIES SUPERVISED BY OUR NEWMARK STAFF
Invite up to 15 friends to your child's birthday party at Newmark. All activities, paper goods (table cloth, plates, napkins & silverware) and decorations are included. The party is held in the Newmark gym, game room & cafe and may be tailored to your liking. Theme parties are welcome. Parents are responsible for sending out the invitations and monitoring the RSVP list, bringing the cake, drinks and snacks. Invitations may be given out in the classroom, if all the classmates are included, or you may mail/email the invitation on your own. Birthday Parties are held from 2:30 - 4:00 PM.
Party Cost: $300
