NHS After School Clubs 2026-27 Session Dates:

  • Session I: Begins week of September 14, 2026 - November 4, 2027                        
  • Session II: Begins week of November 16, 2026 - January 21, 2027
  • Session III: Begins week of February 8, 2027 - March 25, 2027
  • Session IV: Begins week of April 12, 2027 - May 27, 2027    

2026-27 NHS After School Clubs & Programs  

Newmark High School offers a variety of After School Clubs and Programs to meet the age, interests and needs of our students. Activities are offered for 4 sessions, with each session running 6 to 9 weeks in length.
 

  • Onsite: Clubs/Programs will begin directly after school and end at 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking up their teen promptly at dismissal.

BBQ COOKING CLUB | $150 per session | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  
Session I:
 9/15/26, 9/22/26, 9/29/26, 10/6/26, 10/13/26, 10/20/26, 10/27/26, 11/3/26
Open to all NHS students.  Min: 4 participants; max: 6 participants
Description: The BBQ Cooking Club will focus on having students come together and learn how to make dishes using a grill as the main cooking method! Each week, students will be working outside to learn how to grill different types of meat, vegetables, fruits, and even desserts and side dishes, while learning how to use a grill safely. Students will also work on their cutting and other fundamental cooking skills in a safe environment. Please note: BBQ Cooking Club is offered for Session I & IV only. BBQ Cooking will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

ART PORTFOLIO CLUB | $175 per session | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  - BY INVITE ONLY

Open to all NHS students – By Invite Only.  Min: 4 participants
Description: The Art Portfolio Club is designed for students who are passionate about art and aspire to pursue it professionally or in higher education after graduation. In this club, students will work on developing a comprehensive and impressive art portfolio that showcases their unique talents and creativity. Members will receive personalized feedback, learn advanced techniques and explore various mediums. The club provides a collaborative environment where students can refine their skills, gain confidence in their artistic abilities and prepare for future opportunities in the art world. Art Portfolio Program will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

MUSIC DESIGN CLUB | $100 | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  
Session I:  9/15/26, 9/22/26, 9/29/26, 10/6/26, 10/13/26, 10/20/26, 10/27/26, 11/3/26
Open to all NHS students.  Min: 6 participants 

Description: We’ll explore music production techniques such as sampling, arranging, mixing and recording vocals and instruments. Our instructor, Mr. Souza, has over a decade of experience in the music industry, having released 83 albums of his own and running an independent record label that distributes vinyl, cassettes and CDs. The goal of our class is to have fun creating music and potentially even press a one-of-a-kind vinyl featuring the songs we make. This class is perfect for anyone interested in songwriting, computer DAWs (digital audio workstations) or the behind-the-scenes process of making, releasing and promoting music. Music Design Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

CODING CLUB | $100 per session | WEDNESDAYS | ONSITE

Open to all NHS students.  Min: 8 participants
Description: The Coding Club will offer students a chance to acquire hands-on experience in computer programming through languages such as Python or Java. Using various forms of hardware, students will be able to explore their interests by learning fundamental concepts in the field of computer science. Students with a strong math background, programming experience or want to start the coding journey are encouraged to join!  Coding Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

COLLEGE ESSAY WRITING | Free |WEDNESDAY| ONSITE
Session I:  9/16/26, 9/23/26, 9/30/26, 10/7/26, 10/14/26, 10/21/26, 10/28/26, 11/4/26
Open to Seniors only. Min: 8 participants
Description: Free College Essay Writing club will provide students with guidance on crafting an effective personal narrative, advice on the structural organization of the essay, and a space to revise and edit based on constructive feedback. By the end of the course, students will have written an engaging essay that reveals their personality and strengths.  College Essay Writing will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

ROLL FOR ADVENTURE (D&D) | $100 per session | THURSDAYS |ONSITE
Session I: 9/17/26, 9/24/26, 10/1/26, 10/8/26, 10/15/26, 10/22/26, 10/29/26
Open to all NHS students.  Min: 6 participants 
Description: Students will engage in an adventure through Dungeons and Dragons, developing a greater understanding of the rules while within an engaging and enjoyable environment. Students will create their own characters and work collaboratively through an imaginative, fantastical world. Roll For Adventure Club will start after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.
