2025-26 After School Clubs 

NHS After School Clubs 2025-26  Session Dates:

  • Session I: Begins week of September 15, 2025 through November 5, 2025
  • Session II: Begins week of November 17, 2025 through January 22, 2026
  • Session III: Begins week of February 9, 2026 through April 2, 2026
  • Session IV: Begins week of April 20, 2026  through May 28, 2026

2025-26 NHS After School Clubs & Programs  

Newmark High School offers a variety of After School Clubs and Programs to meet the age, interests and needs of our students. Activities are offered for 4 sessions, with each session running 6 to 9 weeks in length.
 

  • Onsite: Clubs/Programs will begin directly after school and end at 3:15 PM or 4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking up their teen promptly at dismissal.
  • Virtual: Clubs/Programs will start at 3:15 PM via Microsoft Teams invite and will end at 4:30 PM.

ART PORTFOLIO CLUB | $175 per session | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  - BY INVITE ONLY
Session III:  2/10/26, 2/17/26, 2/24/26, 3/3/26, 3/10/26, 3/17/26, 3/24/26, 3/31/26
By Invite Only.  Min: 4 participants
Description: The Art Portfolio Club is designed for students who are passionate about art and aspire to pursue it professionally or in higher education after graduation. In this club, students will work on developing a comprehensive and impressive art portfolio that showcases their unique talents and creativity. Members will receive personalized feedback, learn advanced techniques and explore various mediums. The club provides a collaborative environment where students can refine their skills, gain confidence in their artistic abilities and prepare for future opportunities in the art world. Art Portfolio Program will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

MUSIC DESIGN CLUB | $100 | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  
Session III:  2/10/26, 2/17/26, 2/24/26, 3/3/26, 3/10/26, 3/17/26, 3/24/26, 3/31/26
Open to all NHS students.  Min: 6 participants 
Description: We’ll explore music production techniques such as sampling, arranging, mixing and recording vocals and instruments. Our instructor, Mr. Souza, has over a decade of experience in the music industry, having released 83 albums of his own and running an independent record label that distributes vinyl, cassettes and CDs. The goal of our class is to have fun creating music and potentially even press a one-of-a-kind vinyl featuring the songs we make. This class is perfect for anyone interested in songwriting, computer DAWs (digital audio workstations) or the behind-the-scenes process of making, releasing and promoting music. Music Design Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 3:15 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

FUNDAMENTALS OF COOKING CLUB | $150 per session | TUESDAYS| ONSITE  
Session III:  2/10/26, 2/17/26, 2/24/26, 3/3/26, 3/10/26, 3/17/26, 3/24/26, 3/31/26
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 4 participants; Maximum – 6 participants 
Description: The purpose of The Fundamentals of Cooking club is to provide students the skills to promote confidence in the kitchen for independent daily living.  Each session, students will have the opportunity to choose a recipe the group will make while working on essential skills of the kitchen such as cutting, how to be safe using the stove and the oven and managing a clean working environment.  By the end of Session III, students will be able to confidently and competently execute the skills introduced and practiced throughout the term. Fundamentals of Cooking will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

Open to all NHS students.  Min: 8 participants
Description: The IP Club is an academic support club designed to provide students with a structured, supportive environment in which they can complete Independent Practice (IP) and other academic assignments with direct access to teacher guidance. The club offers consistent routines, clear expectations and individualized assistance to help students stay on task, manage their workload and build independence. In addition to assignment support, the IP Club emphasizes executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, planning and task initiation, while also incorporating appropriate breaks and evidence-based study strategies to promote focus and reduce academic stress. This club serves as a proactive support to help students build confidence, improve academic outcomes and develop skills essential for long-term success.  IP Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. CODING CLUB | $100 per session | WEDNESDAYS | ONSITE

Open to all NHS students.  Min: 8 participants
Description: The Coding Club will offer students a chance to acquire hands-on experience in computer programming through languages such as Python or Java. Using various forms of hardware, students will be able to explore their interests by learning fundamental concepts in the field of computer science. Students with a strong math background, programming experience or those who want to start the coding journey are encouraged to join!  Coding Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

ROLL FOR ADVENTURE (D&D) | $100 per session | THURSDAYS | VIRTUAL

Description: Students will participate in an adventure through Dungeons and Dragons, developing a greater understanding of the rules while within an engaging and enjoyable environment. Students will create their own characters and work collaboratively through an imaginative, fantastical world.  Roll for Adventure Club will run virtually from 3:15 PM through 4:30 PM.

Description:  FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is the premier student business organization in the world. With over 230,000 members nationally, FBLA prepares students for careers in business and business related fields through numerous contests, competitions and community service activities. Newmark is happy to offer an After School Club that will support and prepare the Newmark FBLA team for the yearly FBLA activities. The Club will focus on presentation techniques and competition strategies. FBLA Club will be offered Session III only and is mandatory for students participating in FBLA competitions. FBLA Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

MOCK TRIAL | $100 total per session | THURSDAYS | ONSITE  
Session II:
 11/20/25, 12/4/25, 12/18/25, 1/8/26, 1/15/26, 1/22/26 (No Club 11/27/25, 12/11/25, 12/25/25, 1/1/26)
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 4 participants 
Description:   Mock Trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial.  It teaches essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking and the art of forming a persuasive, cohesive argument. Mock Trial is part courtroom trial and part stage production.  Students will audition to play certain roles, such as Lawyer or Witness, in a staged trial.  They will be required to memorize scripts and learn courtroom procedures. Students will also develop the skills of notetaking, adlibbing and overall flexibility.  Following preparation, students will then have the opportunity to compete against other schools at the Union County Court House in Elizabeth.  Mock Trials can either inspire students or display legal knowledge, so if you like acting and argument, this is the opportunity for you!  Mock Trial Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.
