2024-25 After School Clubs 

NHS After School Clubs 2024-25  Session Dates:

  • Session I: Begins week of September 16, 2024 through November 6, 2024
  • Session II: Begins week of November 18, 2024  through January 23, 2025
  • Session III: Begins week of February 10, 2025 through March 27, 2025
  • Session IV: Begins week of April 7, 2025  through May 22, 2025

2024-25 NHS After School Clubs & Programs  

Newmark High School offers a variety of After School Clubs and Programs to meet the age, interests and needs of our students. Activities are offered for 4 sessions, with each session running 6 to 9 weeks in length.
 

  • Onsite: Clubs/Programs will begin directly after school and end at  4:00 PM. Parents are responsible for picking up their teen promptly at dismissal.
  • Virtual: Clubs/Programs will start at 3:15 PM via Microsoft Teams invite and will end at 4:30 PM.

ROLL FOR ADVENTURE (D&D) | $100 per session | MONDAYS | VIRTUAL
Session III: 2/10/25,  2/24/25, 3/3/25, 3/10/25, 3/17/25, 3/24/25 (No Club –2/17/25 – Winter Break)
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 6 participants 
Description: Students will engage in an adventure through Dungeons and Dragons, developing a greater understanding of the rules while within an engaging and enjoyable environment. Students will create their own characters and work collaboratively through an imaginative, fantastical world. Roll For Adventure Club will start virtually at 3:15 PM and will end at 4:30 PM.

FUNDAMENTALS OF COOKING CLUB | $150 per session |TUESDAYS | ONSITE  
Session III: 2/11/25, 2/18/25, 2/25/25, 3/4/25, 3/11/25, 3/18/25, 3/25/25 
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 4 participants; Maximum – 6 participants 
Description: The purpose of The Fundamentals of Cooking club is to provide students the skills to promote confidence in the kitchen for independent daily living.  In each session, students will have the opportunity to choose a recipe the group will make while while working on essential kitchen skills such as: cutting; using the stove and oven safely; and managing a clean work environment. By the end of Session III, students will be able to confidently and competently execute the skills introduced and practiced throughout the term. Fundamentals of Cooking will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. ART PORTFOLIO | $175 per session | TUESDAYS | ONSITE  - BY INVITE ONLY
Session III: 2/11/25, 2/18/25, 2/25/25, 3/4/25, 3/11/25, 3/18/25, 3/25/25 
By Invite Only.  Minimum: 4 participants
Description: The Art Portfolio Club is designed for students who are passionate about art and aspire to pursue it professionally or in higher education after graduation. In this club, students will work on developing a comprehensive and impressive art portfolio that showcases their unique talents and creativity. Members will receive personalized feedback, learn advanced techniques and explore various mediums. The club provides a collaborative environment where students can refine their skills, gain confidence in their artistic abilities and prepare for future opportunities in the art world. Art Portfolio Program will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB | $100 per session | WEDNESDAYS | ONSITE

Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 8 participants
Description: The Community Service Club is designed to give students an appreciation and understanding of community and global concerns. The Club is project-based and student-driven which enables students to grow in ways that enrich their lives as individuals, as members of local communities and as citizens of the global community. Community Service Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

CODING CLUB | $100 per session | WEDNESDAY | ONSITE 
Session III:  2/12/25, 2/19/25, 2/26/25, 3/5/25, 3/12/25, 3/19/25, 3/26/25
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 8 participants
Description: The Coding Club will offer students a chance to acquire hands-on experience in computer programming through languages such as Python or Java. Using various forms of hardware, students will be able to explore their interests by learning fundamental concepts in the field of computer science. Students with a strong math background, programming experience or want to start the coding journey are encouraged to join!  Coding Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. FBLA CLUB | $100 per session | THURSDAYS | ONSITE

Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 4 participants 
Description:  FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is the premier student business organization in the world. With over 230,000 members nationally, FBLA prepares students for careers in business and business-related fields through numerous contests, competitions and community service activities. Newmark is happy to offer an After School Club that will support and prepare the Newmark FBLA team for the yearly FBLA activities. The Club will focus on presentation techniques and competition strategies. FBLA Club will be offered Session III only and is mandatory for students participating in FBLA competitions. FBLA Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

Description: The purpose of the Art Workshop after school club is to allow high school students the opportunity to explore their interests in Art. Students will work with their choice of medium to cultivate their skills and to enhance their learning. More serious artists, who plan to pursue art as a path to higher education, are encouraged to join this club to begin developing a work portfolio. Art Workshop will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM. Prompt pick-up is appreciated.

MOCK TRIAL | $100 per session | THURSDAYS | ONSITE  
Session II:
 11/21/24,  12/12/24, 12/19/24, 1/9/25, 1/16/25, 1/23/25 (No Club – 11/28/24 Thanksgiving Break; 12/5/24, 12/26/24 & 1/2/25 – Holiday Break)
Open to all NHS students.  Minimum: 4 participants 
Description:   Mock Trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial.  It teaches essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and the art of forming a persuasive, cohesive argument. Mock Trial is part courtroom trial and part stage production.  Students will audition to play certain roles, such as Lawyer or Witness, in a staged trial.  They will be required to memorize scripts and learn courtroom procedures. Students will also develop the skills of notetaking, ad-libbing, and overall flexibility.  Following preparation, students will then have the opportunity to compete against other schools at the Union County Court House in Elizabeth.  Mock Trials can either inspire students or display legal knowledge, so if you like acting and argument, this is the opportunity for you!  Mock Trial Club will begin immediately after school and will end at 4:00 PM.
