Community Service

While Newmark takes Community Service very seriously, this year due to safety protocols, Community Service opportunities will be limited.  To support the Drives, students can use their School Store points to "donate" items.  We appreciate your patience until we can safely begin Community Service fundraisers and events.

2021-22 Community Service Fundraisers & Drives

Animal Shelter Drive: Friday, October 8 - Wednesday, November 3, 2021
We are collecting food and toys for the Plainfield Area Humane Society.  This is a great opportunity for our students to show their compassion by using their hard-earned school store points to donate to a wonderful cause. Due to safety protocols, we will not be accepting any donations directly from students or staff.
Blanket of Hope Day: Wednesday, October 27, 2021 - new school-wide service project to support Blankets of Hope, an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit helping students practice empathy and kindness by donating blankets - each paired with an inspirational handwritten note - to those experiencing homelessness.
  • Blankets of Hope -  As part of service learning at Newmark this fall, students can purchase a blanket, create a handwritten card and their blanket will be delivered to a local homeless shelter.  Cost is $5 per student.  Read Letter/Form – Participation is optional but we encourage all students to join in.  Payment is due by Friday, October 1, 2021.
Toy Drive: Friday, November 12 - Friday, December 3, 2021
Help us brighten the lives of children in our community in time for the holidays.  Due to safety protocols, we will not be accepting any donations directly from students or staff.  Students may use their School Store points to purchase items at the School Store for donations.  All donations will go to St. Joseph's Social Service Center in Elizabeth (Union County).

Military Drive: Friday, January 14  - Friday, February 11, 2022
Students can use their School Store points to "purchase" Military Drive items from the School Store.  All donations will go to the N.J. Veteran’s Memorial Home at Menlo in Edison, NJ.

Sustainable Lunches: Friday, March 4 - Thursday, April 14, 2022 -  students can use their school store points to "purchase" items for sustainable bag lunches that will be distributed to Bridges Outreach, feeding the homeless in Newark.

Cards For Hospitalized Kids: Tuesday, June 7, 2022 - Community Service project to support Hospitalized Kids (CFHK), an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.
