While Newmark takes Community Service very seriously, this year due to continued safety protocols, Community Service opportunities may be limited. To support the Drives, students can use their School Store points to "donate" items.
2022-23 Community Service Fundraisers & Drives
FBLA Pretzel Sales: Begin Wednesday September 14, 2022 through Thursday, June 8, 2023 - Monthly Fundraiser to benefit the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) - $1.00 each (max 2 per student)
Blanket of Hope Assembly: Monday, September 19, 2022 - Assembly to introduce school-wide Service Project to support Blankets of Hope, an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit helping students practice empathy and kindness by donating blankets - each paired with an inspirational handwritten note - to those experiencing homelessness. (See sign up form starting in the 9/16/22 Friday Backpack News)
- Blankets of Hope Day: Wednesday, October 19, 2022 - As part of service learning at Newmark this fall, participating students who have purchased a blanket will create and attach a handwritten card to their blanket which will be delivered to a local homeless shelter.
FBLA Ga-Ga Tournament Fundraiser: Friday, October 7, 2022 - K-8 students can participate in the Ga-Ga Tournament to help raise money for the Newmark High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Cost is $5 per student - details coming soon
Animal Shelter Drive: Friday, October 7 - Wednesday, November 4, 2022
We are collecting food and toys for the Plainfield Area Humane Society. This is a great opportunity for our students to show their compassion by using their hard-earned school store points to donate to a wonderful cause. Due to safety protocols, we will not be accepting any donations directly from students or staff.
Toy Drive: Wednesday, November 9- Friday, December 9, 2022
Help us brighten the lives of children in our community in time for the holidays. Due to safety protocols, we will not be accepting any donations directly from students or staff. Students may use their School Store points to purchase items at the School Store for donations. All K-8 donations will go to St. Joseph's Social Service Center in Elizabeth (Union County). All High School donations go to children in the NJ foster care system.

Military Drive: Friday, January 13 - Friday, February 10, 2023
Students can use their School Store points to "purchase" Military Drive items from the School Store. All donations will go to the N.J. Veteran’s Memorial Home at Menlo in Edison, NJ.
Sustainable Lunches: Friday, March 3 - Thursday, April 21, 2023 - students can use their school store points to "purchase" items for sustainable bag lunches that will be distributed to Bridges Outreach, feeding the homeless in Newark, Summit and Irvington.
Alex's Lemonade Sale: Begins Tuesday, March 21, 2023 - Community Service clubs will be selling lemonade every month through the end of the school year. All cups are $.50 and proceeds go to Alex's Lemonade Stand to help find a cure for childhood cancers.
Pay To Play Electronic Games: Friday, April 21, 2023 - Benefits Rise Against Hunger, a not-for-profit organization that provides volunteer packaged meals and other assistance to families around the world.
Cards For Hospitalized Kids: Wednesday, June 7, 2023 - Community Service project to support Hospitalized Kids (CFHK), an internationally recognized charitable organization that spreads hope, joy & magic to hospitalized kids across America through uplifting, handmade cards.
