Understanding DDD & DVRS: Planning for the Transition to Adulthood
Thursday, January 14, 2027 from 6:30-8 PM
VIRTUAL Training
Join us for an informative parent workshop featuring representatives from the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS). Both agencies play important roles in helping students with disabilities prepare for life after high school, but each provides different types of support.
The DDD presentation will focus on eligibility, Medicaid requirements, the NJCAT assessment and the process of accessing adult services and supports available after graduation. Families will gain a better understanding of the steps needed to prepare for long-term adult services.
The DVRS presentation will highlight pre-employment services available to eligible students while they are still in high school, as well as vocational supports that help individuals explore careers, prepare for employment and achieve greater independence in adulthood. This workshop will provide families with valuable information to help plan for a successful transition to the future.
Newmark High school students and parents are invited to attend together.
