Since first meeting in 1997, the founders have shared a mission: to create a safe, structured and inspiring environment where students can grow academically, socially and emotionally.d Ms. Cynthia Allman stood alongside students, staff, parents and local leaders to officially open the 5-acre facility—bringing K–8 and high school programs together under one roof. This new campus fulfills their shared vision for a nurturing, forward-thinking environment where students who learn differently are empowered to thrive.

Newmark High School proudly opens its doors, answering the call from graduating 8th graders for a high school experience designed just for them. This new chapter offers a seamless path from middle school success to high school horizons, providing a familiar, supportive and inspiring environment where students can continue to grow, achieve and belong.

It’s a celebration of community, continuity and the bright futures ahead.

Newmark Education proudly hosts it’s very first Art Show, a celebration of creativity, self-expression and student voice. Through painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media, our students explored who they are and how they see the world—often expressing what words cannot.

Newmark Education’s “Destination of Promise” Capital Campaign united our community in a historic achievement. Led by founders Dr. Regina M. Peter and Ms. Cynthia Allman, and championed by Mr. Duncan and Mrs. Alison Niederauer, the campaign featured a landmark moment—ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange—and successfully raised the funds to build our state-of-the-art Scotch Plains campus, an inspiring home for students who learn differently.

On our new campus, Newmark’s After School Clubs offer dynamic, interest-driven clubs for both K–8 and high school students. From Chess and Art Portfolio Club to BBQ Cooking and Intramurals, these activities spark creativity, strengthen social skills and inspire growth beyond the classroom. By connecting students with peers who share their passions, the program nurtures lasting friendships and a vibrant sense of community.

Newmark’s experiential learning program blends adventure, real-world skill building and community engagement to prepare students for life beyond school. Expanded Project Adventure activities build resilience, spark creative problem-solving and strengthen peer connections—skills students will carry into college, careers and adult life. Beyond campus, travel training and community-based field trips give students hands-on opportunities to navigate public transportation, visit cultural sites, explore local businesses and practice independent living skills. Together, these experiences lay the groundwork for success in adult living, higher education and meaningful community involvement.

We introduced the NextMark Online Teacher Training Course—a  NextMark Foundation initiative designed to equip educators nationwide with practical, proven strategies to support students’ mental health. Drawing on techniques developed in Newmark’s “living laboratory,” the program gives teachers tools to address student needs with confidence. Since its launch, more than 2,000 educators have completed the course, extending Newmark’s impact far beyond our campus and into classrooms across the country.

When COVID-19 disrupted classrooms across the country, Newmark kept learning alive through innovative teaching, reimagined lesson delivery and constant, open communication. Parents, teachers and students adapted together—sharing feedback, finding creative solutions and ensuring learning remained connected, supportive and strong. Our longstanding training program for student interns in nursing, teaching, occupational therapy and speech—established years before the pandemic—continued without interruption, giving future professionals hands-on experience even during remote learning. In the face of physical distance, our community grew closer than ever.

PINS Program has honored students who exemplify personal and social growth through Community-Based achievement—whether through service, the arts, athletics or leadership. Each recipient earns a special PIN and lanyard, recognized in regular ceremonies and a culminating breakfast reception. This year’s milestone underscores Newmark’s enduring commitment to celebrate and inspire service, connection and student empowerment.

With a trophy case gleaming from years of success, Newmark proudly celebrates its longstanding tradition of athletic achievement. For decades, our student athletes have earned 1st and 2nd place finishes in Cross Country and Track Meets, celebrated multiple undefeated basketball seasons and racked up countless wins across our growing sports programs—building excitement and school pride. More than medals, Newmark athletics are about perseverance, sportsmanship and the joy of staying active—values our students carry long after the final whistle.

Newmark’s Theater Program continues to thrive, offering students the opportunity to discover their voices, build confidence and share their talents on stage. From captivating school plays to high-energy musicals, our productions have become a cherished tradition, earning standing ovations from the community. Behind the scenes, students develop teamwork, creativity and the power of self-expression, skills that illuminate their paths long after the final curtain falls.

As we celebrate 25 years of impact, Newmark is energized for the future. Fueled by the dedication of our founders, educators, families and community—and inspired by the achievements of our alumni, we’re ready to expand our reach and strengthen our mission.
